Hearing Aid Process

After a case history is takenHearing Aid Process to determine what the hearing loss problems are, our audiologist will perform the necessary hearing tests in order to identify the type of hearing loss. Our audiologist will review the results of the hearing test with you, and, based on the results, may make a referral to a medical doctor if the hearing loss is medically treatable.

Most hearing loss is not medically treatable however, and for those patients hearing may be improved with hearing aids. A hearing aid may be recommended for one or both ears. If hearing aids are recommended, our audiologist will spend time with you administrating a hearing aid evaluation to determine what particular style and type of hearing aid technology will best meet your hearing needs.

Hearing Aid Evaluation

With different types of hearing aids available, our hearing aid specialist will use the information provided in the case history as well as the results of the hearing tests to help narrow the choices for you. The main types of hearing aids available today are analog and digital devices. The different hearing aid styles include Behind-The-Ear (BTE), Receiver in the Ear (RITE), Completely-In-The-Canal (CIC), In-The-Canal (ITC), In-The-Ear (ITE), Open Fit hearing aids, and Extended Wear hearing aids.

Follow-Up Hearing Aid Assessment

We recommend that you return approximately 1-2 weeks after the initial hearing aid fitting. At that time, we will discuss your progress and perform any necessary hearing aid adjustments.
